Q&A

What is branding?

Branding is your business’s name, logo, color palette, voice, and imagery working together. But it’s also more than that. It’s the feeling someone gets when they interact with you, before they’ve read a single word about what you actually do.

I already have a logo. Do I still need branding?

A logo is one piece of a brand, not the whole thing. If you don’t have a defined color palette, consistent fonts, or clear guidelines for how your logo gets used, you likely have a logo, not a brand system. That gap is usually where inconsistency creeps in.

What’s the difference between branding and web design?

Branding is who you are. Web design is where that identity gets applied and put to work. Building a site without a finished brand behind it is like building a house before you’ve decided what it’s made of, you’ll likely need to redo parts of it later.

My business is small. Do I really need a website?

If people are searching for you, referring you, or checking you out before reaching out, yes. A website doesn’t need to be big to matter, it needs to clearly show who you are and make it easy to take the next step.

How do I know if I need a full rebrand or just a refresh?

If your current brand still feels accurate, just outdated or inconsistent, that’s usually a refresh. If it no longer reflects who you’ve become, or you’re not sure it was ever clearly defined in the first place, that’s a sign you need to start closer to the ground up.

What’s actually in a brand style guide, and why does it matter?

A style guide documents your colors, fonts, logo usage, and voice in one place. It matters because it’s what keeps your brand consistent over time, especially once other people (employees, freelancers, future you) are the ones creating things under your name.

Will I be able to update my own website after it’s built?

Depends on the platform and how it’s built, but in most cases, yes. We build with your long-term independence in mind, not to lock you into needing a developer for every small change.

I’m a solopreneur. Isn’t this too much for where I’m at?

Not at all. A clear brand and a simple, functional website often matter more at this stage, since first impressions are doing a lot of heavy lifting when you don’t have a big team or reputation behind you yet.

I have a website already, but it doesn’t feel like “me” anymore. What does that mean?

It usually means your business has grown or changed since the site was built, and the site hasn’t caught up. That disconnect is common, and it’s exactly the kind of gap a brand and web refresh is meant to close.
